upgrade vista basic to 7 pro

    Hello, i have windows vista basic, and i want to upgrade to windows 7 professional. Is it possible to run an upgrade without loosing anything, or do i have to do a clean install?

    i did this to two computers and all your files will go into a folder named "windows.old"

    As stated by previous member it will back up your old files but tbh i would back your data up,get the latest drivers and do a clean install with 7.
    format it with hirens live disc and rattle a fresh clean new oes in it.
