    Hi Everyone,

I need to upgrade the firmware on one of my boxes. I've not done it before. I was just wondering if someone can confirm that I'm doing it right:-

I have the cable, which I know to connect etc.

Then I've downloaded the files from here:-

    http://www.4shared.com/dir/3042613/f6e3421c/sharing.html

    I got them from: Starview1/Firmware/December...

Then I also downloaded GTROM V4.

When I start GTROM there's 3 radio buttons at the bottom (app file, boot file, channel file), do I just leave it at the default?

Also in the firmware zip file is two .bin files, which do I use??

I have read this reference too:-

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/493446

So it's really just those two questions that's stopping me...

Also, if at the end it says failed instead of successful can I just try again if i don't power the box off??

    Thanks

I'm not sure. I have two boxes, one has December 2009 firmware. I think that's the latest...

Thanks Karl, you just saved me a lot of problems and €100. Just as well the serial cable I had wasn't right for the job too.

The box in the picture is the one I have. So I must have a Starview 2 (TheBox) so. I presume I use the firmware from "the box" folder on that rapidshare link

Whereabouts do you live keith, and who is your service provider?

Even upgrading with the latest firmware will not get back the movie, sports channels etc on ntl in ireland at the moment.

Cheers for that Karl. I'll try it soon.

    @Evastar:
I live in Ireland. I've two boxes - one of them is still working :) I'm hoping the other one will work if I flash it with the latest firmware (currently it's running some from 2007 I believe). At the moment it picks up on <10 different channels. (damn NTHelL) I presume the reason why all the movie channels is down because of that nagravision-3 thing? Let's hope a free solution comes soon...
