Upgrading proccesor

    AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 6000+, 3.0 GHz (ADX6000CZBOX) Boxed Processor

    im moving from a pentium 4 2.00ghz to AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 6000+, 3.0 GHz (ADX6000CZBOX) Boxed Processor


    do you think it's a good move, will it make a difference

    Dell dimension 4550
    ram" 1gig
    raddeon 9550
    xp sp2

    Well intel chipset desent support AMD chpset so you can't upgrade to AMD.

    I hope you realize a new motherboard and memory will be in order. I would suggest upgrading to a Core 2 Duo build instead of the AMD. The AMD having better performance days are over.

    It's been said, you'll need a new motherboard and memory, as well as probably another power supply, knowing what often comes in Dells.

    your right my gpu is to old it wouldn't support a new processor thanks anway
