Hey, I searched around the forums but couldn't find a solid answer. I'm having trouble upgrading my firmware from 1.06 to 1.11 on my chinese R4. When I tried it before it said "!!! - The Hardware is not Compatible".

Can anyone provide me with a link to where I can get the required firmware?

Sorry for my first post being a request like this, but it's very frustrating because I just bought the new Black & Red DS and I can't even really play it.

You couldnt find a solid answer ?
I answered this very problem only a few weeks ago.
I didnt know there were different versions of the cartridge, ie Chinese and English - I put the English files on what I found out was a Chinese cartridge and got the same error as yourself.
Just do a search on yahoo for the Tchinese 1.11 files (not sure if the Schinese 1.11 files will work), and when they are put on your cartridge, everything will be fine. Some of the txt will be in chinese, but all games and options will be in english.
I have the modified chinese 1.11 files - they have been hacked into 100% english, and once on the cartridge, no one will be any the wiser it isnt an english cartridge - if you really need these files PM me and i will forward them on, as Im pretty sure we arent alowed to post links on the forum

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Official Site is a good place to get Firmware.

I've posted an English Firmware I patched for Chinese R4s multiple times: Here.

Um, no - the official web site only has Korean, French and English firmware

I dont mean to sound patronising, but you couldnt have tried "everything" - its a simple matter to fix - your probably just making a simple mistake like we all did at the start when we were finding our way about with these cartridges :)

Firstly, your not sure if your cartridge is English or Chinese - fair enough.
Delete EVERYTHING on the card, and install the english files to see if it boots up. If it doesnt, delete / re-format the card - DONT copy files over. Once the card is empty, THEN try a diferent set of files. I ended up with a mish-mash of chinese & english on mine at the start and I thought I was going nuts.
Once you have a card that boots up, take a note of the files on the card (from memory there are only 3 I think plus a config file the cartridge makes up itself)- these are the ONLY ones needed to get it to boot up, and when you need to upgrade in the future, those are the only files you need to touch - if your problems persist and your getting no where, pm me.
