Hi guys = sorry if this is not a correct question BUT -

    i have a mod chip
    i HAVE HBC loaded
    i have currently ver 3.3

i use WAD manager with SOME success ie some wads load as channels but others say cant use this channel.

My prob is i have never known anything about all these cIOS everyone talks about.

Am i correct in thinking because i HAVE a chip i "load" the cIOS ver8 - THEN i can upgrade to wii official update 4 - and then i will be able to load and run WAD channels on my SD card via HBC instead of in my wiis memory?

Also do i need to then run cIOS9 AFTER i upgrade to 4?

    Thanks in advance

    Tony

you can install rev9 before or after upgrade as long as you have rev7 or rev8 prior going to 4.0. it's your judgment which you used. I suggest used method 1.

I haven't been able to get the backup loader to work. I keep getting DVD read error. I have been through so many iterations of this guide that I don't know what state my Wii is in (e.g. what cios version is installed or what have you). My system has been on 3.4 since I started trying to mod my wii. I burned the backups (1 on memorex DVD-r and 1 on Verbatim DL DVD-r) but neither work.

Anyway, I have the HBC and the last cios i installed was rev7. What would you recommend I do to make sure that I get everything installed correctly? I'm so desperate to get this to work!

You need to start over and make sure everything installs without errors. If homebrew is installed, continue from there. Sounds like you didn't get the ios downgrader installed to me.

I think so... I have 4.0E now and my World Of Goo wad still works so i guess i did it right.

Is there a mod that runs the wads directly off the sd card or must they be installed as channels then moved to sd card?

try installing another WAD, try to move that WAd to SD.There no WAD manager yet that can direclty install wad to SD.

to delete WAD used the nintendo menu..

I upgrade today with Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.0 and everything went great I have been reading everything I could find on all of the forums and followed this tutorial at (http://wehackwii.pbwiki.com/News+-+System+Menu+v4) wads work great i had to order 16gig sd card i filled my two gig up in a few hours and install the the USB loader to backup and boot games from a USB drive. Two days ago it work good as long as the games are the same area my NTSC games work great my PAL games the video is a little off.
Of coarse you do have to do the The Twilight Hack HBC + WiiGator Backup Launcher 0.3 gamma with GC Support first But if you are here you all ready know this any way this is the best upgrade so far
