ok i just got this free pc from an school program and i was woundering if its worth upgrading to play games like final fantasy 11,americas_army counter strike and call of duty. all i have is about $180 to spend and i just want the games to run at a smooth frame rate at medium graphics. Dell optiplex gx 520 celeron d 2.53 256 RAM pci express 1x pci slot 1x
I would suggest a memory upgrade. 256 is a lil low for games. get at least a gig. then what is the specs on the Graphics card ? will need a decent card to run most newer games.
It would take just under $180 purely to get enough RAM to run a game like COD2. But then again, I hate running games just at medium graphics. I dont think you can do it on just $180.
intel 82945g express chipset family standard video card pc brings i just want to know cuz i got a couple of stuff picked out to buy for it but i hit a rock weather to upgrade the video to 128 or 256 and ram to 750
onboard video? if it is then i would also get a decent graphics card but you will be way over budget with memory and card.
yeah that might be enough. depends on where you buy from. Newegg has some pretty decent prices. for medium graphics i would suggest something in the nvidia 6600 family.
what about ati? i went to new egg and found some that cost like 50 but no sure if they are good HIS Hightech HX30SHH256-1TOEN Radeon X300SE 256MB HyperMemory with 128MB Onborad DDR DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail Core clock: 325MHz D-SUB: 1 DirectX: DirectX 9 DVI: 1 Memory Clock: 400MHz Memory Interface: 64-bit OpenGL: OpenGL 1.5 Tuner: None TV-Out: S-Video Out VIVO: No
not sure about Ati. I have always used nvidia cards. But someone else should have an answer. Just make sure it is a Pci Express card. as your board doesnt have an agp slot.
He means ram speed, not ram size. go here http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ and hit scan my system to see what your board supports. It will say ddr2 pc 3200 or ddr pc 2400 something along the lines of that.
