A friend sent me a DVD and I want to upload the video to Facebook or You Tube. These are the (NeroShowTime) files listed on the DVD...

    Video_TS (12kb)
    Video_TS (160kb)
    Video_TS.BUP (12kb)
    VTS_01_0 (62kb)
    VTS_01_0.BUP (62kb)
    VTS_01_1 (1,048,544kb)
    VTS_01_2 (1,048,544kb)
    VTS_01_3 (1,048,544kb)
    VTS_01_4 (158,900kb)

I can select one file when uploading, I assume the VTS are the video, but do these files contain the sound and do I need the other files?

Also, there is usually a file size limit or time limit (10 or 20 minutes and a file size of 1024MG FBook or 2GB YTube). These VTS files look way too big, so can I break them down even more? I may have an editing program for this, but still don't know how to use it...

Can anyone take me through this process?
    Thanks!

You need to convert it to an Avi or mp4 and compress it. You can use AutoGK, Handbrake, or any software in this post:
    http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/20681.cfm

Then split it in chunks of 10 minutes or whatever the limit is.Some of the software might do it for you during the conversion.

Gave StaxRip a try and now it is asking me to download all of these applications...there is a download button to make this easy, but my computer is blocking it so I have been doing it manually looking at the links it gives me and I am getting wrong versions or it just isn't acknowledging it once it's uploaded. This is getting to the point where I am about to give up.

    Is there any easier way???

I never used Staxrip, just use any of the other applications, like AutoGK or Handbrake...need no other additional installation.

Okay downloaded AutoGK and I tried it while following the tutorial. Well my first problem is that the audio isn't matching with the video...a little too slow (I am watching it in the desktop preview media player classic window that pops up). Not knowing which file to select for the "Input" (the VTS_01.0 or VTS_01.1), I tried both and neither gets the sound right. In the Options I chose: 2 CDs 1400MB and Original (AC3/DTS/MPA) only. Is this correct?

My next question (if I solve the audio problem) is how do I chop this 1.5 hr video into 10 or 20 minute chunks?

    Thanks!

You can use the free AViTrimmer:

    http://www.solveigmm.com/?Products&p=AVITrimmer

You can use Avidemux (free as well),both will cut/split the video without re-encoding.

For AutoGK, you can manually enter an output value. If you leave it default(2CD...) it will split it in 2 parts. You don't want that. The higher the size, the better the quality, however, anything above 1,5GB or so would be overkill.
You should load the Video_TS.IFO, not the VOBs.

What output value do I manually input? Do I select the Custom Size box and then what value do I put in there? What 'Output Audio Type' selection do I make then?

When I select the Video_TS.IFO file I get the warning - Error parsing IFO file. This file is only 12kb? When I select the VTS_01_0.IFO file the file that pops up in the Audio box is - ??? AC3 2ch. That doesn't look right...tried it anyway, but the audio is still slow!!?? Chose 1400MB as the output size and the 'Original' output audio type.

I seriously need hand holding through every step cause I don't understand what these things are.

    Sorry, thanks for your patience.

I don't know why AutoGK did not open your IFO...here's another free program that can do the conversion/splitting all in one:

    .
Now drag the Video_TS.IFO in the convert window.

    .
Or , manually enter the Start/Stop time for every clip.

What computer do you have(name/serial)? When did you buy it?What operating system do you have?(Windows Vista/XP?)

If you have Windows Vista, you can go to Start->Right Click on "Computer" and choose Properties.

In Windows XP, I think is Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Information

Or, if you can't figure it out, this will do it:
