    Hi,

I've just donwloaded Alcohol 120% Trial Version.

I ripped an image of Hitman Contracts (disc 1 & 2), I did select the general protected CD option on the drop down list .

Then burned them both to CD's and cannot install the game from the copies, It opens the install wizard and gets to a certain file and stops, I tried it on a friends machine and that caused it to crash!

How can I get around this problem?

Is there any way that I can tell what protection is on a game?

    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks

Try VirtualDrive. You can probably go to Best Buy and get it there. And it IS legal too! The latest version out is 10 (which I have). It works on most, but not all CD/DVD ROMs. The best part is that the games won't detect a virtual drive at all! Have fun.
Oh, and I almost forgot, after you use it to rip the CD onto the hard drive, you can then use ImgBurn to burn it back to CD (with all the encryptions still on it of course). You can also choose to remove all the encryptions, but that takes longer!

keithyb: It appears that I tried to test the disc on another machine to see if it worked...

gogochar: Thanks a lot, I'll check it out!
Doesn't Acohol 120% do the same thing? Rip the CD to the hard drive, then burns it to a CD?
Alcohol 120% has a drop down list that you choose from when you rip a CD, it has all the usual, Safe Disc's and what not...
Is there software to detect the protection used?

If I were you I would just use image making wizard with alchy. Then just mount the image. It almost always works. You can even burn it to a disk as a data file then mount it with deamon tools off the disk. It will just create another drive. It works for almost all games I have found. The only one I have trouble with is spellforce 2. It uses "tags" protection.

Unless it is detectiong virtual drives then there are a few 3rd party programs that can hide them.

Nope, you weren't harsh at all!
I searched for Alchy and I couldn't find anything?
Yeah, I was wondering though, if your making a 1:1 copy, then why do you need to specify the CD Protection type on some programs?
So your suggesting I don't make a back up of the game I just rip it onto my computer?
Thanks for you help! : ¬D
