It's my first posting here - but not the first time I am reading the interessting articles here But now I have a real problem and hope somebody could help me as soon as possible: I have a Panasonic DMR E85H with 80 gigabyte harddisk. It's now almost 21 months since I bought it and it was running just fine until a few days ago, when it suddenly shuts down (all lights off) during dubbing (from hdd to dvd-r) or while finalize a dvd-r. Afterwards it starts again with self check, telling me there was an error (of course it was - but what kind of error?) and goes into normal mode, where you can choose the direct navigator or whatever... I have read here also the thread about others having trouble with their E85H, but I do not get any error U99 - at least it displays no error number... I also do not use the divide function. I almost always using Panasonic DVD-R discs (First the 1-4x speed, later the 1-16x speed, because the other where not available anymore in my store. First I thought if there is something wrong with the burner or if there is a problem with the dvd-r's - but I don't think so. I used dvd-r's from different packages and also bought some no name dvd-r for testing. It happens with both discs - the ones from Panasonic and the others: Once it works fine, and next time it shuts down again. So it does not depend, which dvd-r I am using. Both can or can not work... At Panasonic they told me, that they think it could be the power-unit, so I would have to send it in and to wait at least 14 days... Of course I have still two months of warranty left, but 14 days waiting sucks, especially 'cause have a lot of recordings still on the hdd and scheduled for the coming days - the recording on the hdd works still perfect. Could anybody please help, if there is any way to fix the problem myself? Also read about the firmware upgreade in the other thread - but not sure, if I should do it, because [bold]my E85H is a region 2 (pal)[/bold] model. Can anybody please help me quickly?! Thank you very much!
I have the same problem as you. Everything is fine for my E85 except dubbing on DVD-R media or getting finalize for my DVD-R. It seems like there is something wrong with the internal power supply.
