takeout the original stick & compare it to new stick. any major differences along the bottom & ends? try new stick in old stick slot & try old stick in empty slot.

ok i now have the ram working
    total of 3 memory slots

the 1st one was the ram that came wit it, so i took that out and put in the new ram and put the old ram into the 3rd slot and now it works and the middle slots is not working i'm thinkin bcuz its so tight when tryin to slide the ram in..

    Thanks ddp..

I also have the HDD installed intitalized and then partition and formated into NTFS.
BUT the HDD is suppose to be 200gb when i formated nd everything it was ONLY 127gb why is that?

you don't have XP's service packs added yet. xp maxed out at 127 GB originally. you'll need to search for the proper partitioning tools to join the partitions if you want only one.

once you have windows installed, you can get sp2 and *i believe* that should fix it. a search of google/AD should help you.

Ok, i download a program called "Partition Magic"
my question is, HOW do i retain that missing 70GB? i dont see a option to do that. and under that 127GB NTFS drive, there is nothing there like "unallocated". do u have any experience with those programs?

    thanks in advance

when you first format, you should have the option to create two partitions; i'd just create two 100 gig partitions, install windows on one, then join them with Partition Magic later on. sounds like you already installed it, though, without creating the other partition. i'm not sure how to help you at this point, but there are tech gods (like ddp) that would know this. try pm'ing him, and we'll see who shows up.

The downloaded version of Partition Magic will let you see what the program does, but won't allow you to do anything with it until it's purchased.

Once you install SP2, XP will see the rest of the drive. However, I'd suggest doing a completely new installation using a slipstreamed SP2 disk.

Information on how to do that, is here:

If you have Updated to Sp2 and are still trying to get the rest of your HD back, have you gone into disk management under computer management, because they rest of the space wont show in windows or dos until it has been allocated. Itll properably create a separate 70 gig harddrive once formatted

I'm deciding to do the slipstream, before i do that.
Will i lose everything from my HDD? since its a completely new installation.

and thanks everyone for the replys

    EDIT:
I just did the slipstream instructions, i went into the computer management and there is still NOT an "allocated" option it still remain that 127GB. i'm tryin to reformat it again.. and see if anything comes up..

    EDIT2:

I just reformatted it and its still the same.. any other ideas or ways guys?

During your new installation, you must first delete the 127 gig partition. This will automatically add the unpartitioned space to the total available.

    ok
the slipstream, for some reason it didnt fully installed sp2 or anything. when i right click on "my computer" and properties and in general tab it didnt says sp2.

what i did was installed everything in the "windows update" and then restarted. and then i went back there to check if every new update was installed.. and then it said "service pack 2" and i downloaded there and finally has it installed!

and i now have the missing GB and partiting it as of now and formatting..

Thanks so much to u guys for ur advices, you guys are GREAT!
