Pic above is the error message i get. I know for a fact that all my usb drives are 2.0 but every time i plug in a usb device i get a message saying that the device can perform faster.
1. Are your PC ports USB 2.0?? 2. Possible speed negotiation problem between your PC and the USB HDD interface. Are you able to connect at USB 2.0 with other devices? Unplug and reconnect. Are you using a USB hub between the PC and the HDD?
It looks to me that you have a mix of USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports on your PC. You need to figure out which ones are the USB 2.0 ports and plug your device into those to get best performance.
I've checked my manual, the internet and i know that all my usb ports are 2.0. My computer is a dell dimension 4700.
Technical Specifications link. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/specs.htm#wp1043338 download & run intel chipset inf from this link. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...D=&DwnldId=10884&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=eng
i don't know why you gave me the specifications of my computer but anyway, i ran the intel chipset, restarted the computer as it told me to do but still same problem.
thanks for the regualr input to this thread, i recently had to repair windows with the os disk and it seemed to have fixed the probelm.
