Is your burner an external drive?
Usually this means that a USB 2.0 device is plugged into a USB 1.1 port, greatly reducing the speed of the external device.

Check in control panel to find if you have usb 1.1 or 2.0. I noticed that if i used an old usb 1.1 cable it would give me the same notice even with 2.0 on the computer. If you do need a usb 2 card they start at about 15 bucks. Cheap and some come with both usb and firewire.

You need to have an open PCI slot though. Make sure you do, or free a slot up.

Like dvdsndict said now is the time to jump in and do it yourself. Get out your manual, go online and get help. It's really very easy if you take your time and read up on it a little. Watch out for the static elecrticity.LOL

thanks johnnyd. Static is a good point to make though, when you're opening your case, wear rubbber-soled shoes and ALWAYS touch the metal frame of the case before you start touching internals. That will disperse the static. In short, don't work on your computer on shag carpet in wool socks.
