USB DEVICE CAUSES XP TO REBOOT, PLEASE HELP

    As said in the title please help me, my pc just restarts when i connect any usb device. I have formatted my drive and reinstalled windows to make sure, and it still does it with a fresh copy.

    Your USB ports may be failing.

    If your machine restarts when you plug a USB device into any port their maybe a fault on your motherboard.

    If it is just off of one port then there could still be a fault but atleast it is bearable and you wont have to pay out.

    Has this been happening since you got the machine or is it recent?

    Have you opened up your case lately to see how much dust is built up in there? You could have a computer that is over heating and adding a usb device throws it over the edge. You could also have a short somewhere, check to see that all of your internals are seated firmly into the board and all of the contacts are dust free.
