Okay, I have an issue with my computer. as of about 2 days ago it has stopped recognizing all usb components. i don't know whether the ports themselves have died or if its the operating system, but i just re-installed my version of XP and the problem persists. so im wondering whether anyone here has any ideas? thanks in advance.

Are you running SP2, and did you install your motherboard's chipset driver after doing so?

Sounds like there is a problem with the ports to me. If you re-installed the OS with all the right drivers and it still doesn't work, they could be bad. Several other people on other forums have had the same issue and nothing they tried could resolve the issue.
