I just got my USB EXTREME from http://www.gamedevilonline.com, fair price by the way (they paid me to say that), my question is, who is maintaining a good compatibility list for this thing? Is compatbility going to be the same as HD ADVANCE or better?

I haven't seen a compatability list yet, but there should be one cause I'm having a lot of trouble with my USBadvance. To answere someone else's question, no USB advance/extreme are not compatable with HD advance/loader. They use a different format.

On a side note, I found out that since my external hard drive is FAT32, I can put all my ELF files there as well as my Genesis ROMS in addition to USB advance games, and they both work.

As many of you have been to my site http://SKSApps.com, I have been close down, because about 2 months ago I tried to run eggdrop. I am needing donations to get my site back up and running. Paypal - Greatmath@aol.com

Please can anyone please tell me if it's possible for me to play copied games or use my external harddrive on the ps2 slimline without a mod chip?

I don't want to install a mod chip. I tried all these Swap Magic and USBAdvance files. But everytime my ps2 just comes up with the same message. Not a PS or PS2 format disk. I don't know if i'm writing the cd in the wrong format. Think it needs to be PAL (South Africa) but will it work at the end of the day?

Is it really possible to only burn a cd with the files from the internet (.iso) and boot the ps2 to read copied games.

HAve a look at http://www.swapmagic3.com/. They recon if you copy the files to a cd and use the right method to insert your copied games without reset the ps2 it will work. There is even video clips to show you wat to do.

My problem is that i copied the files to the CD and my ps2 still gives the same error screen. (Not ps or ps2 format disk).

Am i missing something here? Do i need something else to allow my ps2 to read the boot CD?

Please let me know if anyone can give me more details.

    Thanx :)

    Hi all,

I am very new in this world, but I got the new PSTwo Slimline Modell SCPH 70004 working with an USB Harddisk together with SWAPMAGIC 3.6 and USB EXTREME and USB Advance. This all without opening the PSTwo Slimline so I still have my warranty.

    You need the following:

    - USB Case with a Harddisk (I am using a 40 Gb Hitachi)
    - SWAPMAGIC 3.6 disks (you have to buy these because the cd and dvd which you are getting are "stamped". This is for starting up the PSTwo.
    - The tool USB Extreme (You can get it from http://www.ps2nfo.com/usbfaq.html) More info on www.usbextreme.com
    - The tool USB Advance (I found no site for this, but I have got it from the newssites. You can found it at the moment in a.b.cd.image.playstation2. If your server has a good retention time it will still be here. Search on USBadvance cracked.rar. If it is gone send me a PM and I will repost it somewhere in the news sites.)

    Steps to follow:

    1. Format your Harddisk in NTFS.
    2. Start up USB extreme. Go to the tab Disk Format and reformat the Harddisk. Close the USB Extreme.
    3. Create a directory SWAPMAGIC on the Harddisk.
    4. Burn the USB Advance on a CD using Nero.
    5. Copy the files of the CD to the harddisk in the directory SWAPMAGIC. Rename the *.ELF file to SWAPMAGIC.ELF. This is to make sure that the system starts up and goes to the Harddisk.
    6. Now start the USB Extreme. Go to the games installer tab. Select the correct DVD/CD drive. Select the media type and your USB harddisk. Give the game a name and press start. It could take upto 30 minutes to read the game. When finished press OK.
    Close the USB Extreme programm.
    7. Make sure you disconnect your USB drive properly by stopping it within Windows.
    8. Connect your USB HS to your PSTwo and put the SWAPMAGIC dvd in.
    9. The SWAPMAGIC starts and after it USB Advance starts. Select your game press right and press X when you are on PLAY.

Play a little bit around with it. I got Colin MCRae 3 working now.

I can put the USB Advance somewhere on the news sites. Just give me the group where you want it. I will upload it for you asap.

I got the following working right now.

    - Colin MCRae 3
    - Dinosaur
    - Bowling.

Games that doesn't work sofar (but I keep trying)

    GT4
    FIFA 2005

I don't know if you can play online. I haven't tried that yet.

    Hi,

Did you format the Harddisk with the USB Extreme as well. If you have done I really don't know anymore.

    hi there,

yes I als have some black screens. The game doesn't work then.

I have it now with FIFA2005, GT4 and Midnight 3.

I am still investigating but I am afraid that not all games will work.

    Hey,
Just got this progrma and it works great. I have a virgin un-modded ps2 and have "installed" and played original US games, backup US games and Japanese games. If you plan to use this software, I highly recommend that you purchase the highest RPM HDD you can get. I am currently playing Onimusha 3 (installed from a backup copy) from a 2.5 USB 30gb hdd. During the intro and subsequent cinematics, the video was choppy, but the gameplay is flawless. From this slow HDD, game load is the same or sliiiighhhhtly slower that from disk. Currently looking for a rental store chain in japan....=->

it isn't the harddrive that makes it choppy it's the usb 1.1 connection to your playstation, faster hd won't help...
