I keep geting the pitch fork error when I plug in my usb DVD +/- RW. When I right click it, it say unknown mass storage device. the device is high speed and plugged in to a non-high speed usb port the devise will work at a reduced speed. In task manager it recognizes my device. I've hooked and unhooked powered on powere off shut down and after about 2days of that every now and the it works fine no "pitch fork" what is the solution if anyone knows. dell deminsion 3000 Intel P4 512mb ram, nec ND 3520a used externally in a PM-525U2-PRSO IDE to usb enclosure. Can't find MOBO info still looking, I think its intel though XP home SP2 fully updated. Thanks.
Hi buddy, Do you have power issues with the thing? It has its own power right, you're not trying to power it through USB... Anyway, when you plug it in you get chime, you get unknown mass storage device, then you get DVD NEC ND3520A within maybe 30-40 seconds. Re: the 'pitch fork error' Do you assume we know what that means? LoL ;^) From long experience I suspect you have a desktop Theme that uses pitchforks to signify something-or-other... only you know what that is. OH: and pickup a highspeed USB 2.0 PCI card will ya? They're dirt-cheap ($19 bucks Canadian). Now you're talkin' :^) It's possible that it won't function correctly on old USB which is very slow, 10x slower than a DVD burner. Regards
Thanks for the response The OGS, yeah I guess I was being a tad bit uninformative. The Pitch Fork error, refers to the usb icon it resembles a pitch fork turned sideways, but to answer your questions yes it has its own power, and my computer has a high speed card unless DELL is lying its says 2.0 usb. LOL the pitch fork is below.
