one of the puters at work has a program that requires MS-DOS. so we need an old printer to print what we need. well we got a new puter that does not have a parallel port. so i found a usb to parallel converter cable. it says to plug it in by itself, and windows will recognize it and start the wizard for the drivers. well windows does recognize it, but does not run the wizard. it does say however that the device is installed and ready to use. but it will not print. i am thinking it's because of the drivers, but how can i install them manually. i tried but the wizard doesn't give options for an IEEE-1284 device, and i don't know much else about how to install it. please advise. thanx in advance.
it printed before with the other pc that was running XP as well. the only difference is the new pc doesn't have the parallel out. nothing else.
ok, i contacted HP, and customer support found a way to set up a virtual network and allow the MS-DOS app to print and it all seems to work except for the fact that mothing comes out. i know what you're saying, "if nothing comes out, it is NOT working". but it says, "printing started", the status window for the printer shows that it goes from 0 to 100%, and it says "printing completed", but nothing prints. any ideas? thanx ahead of time for the help.
when doing properties on the printer, what type of connection is listed. have you tried compatibility wizard on that program?
