Hiya, First things first.... Has your laptop got USB2, or just plain old USB? If it is USB2, then go for it... If it is plain old USB, then you will either have to get a USB2 card for it OR forget about dvd burning. As for brands, research, research and more research.... As drchips said, make sure you have USB 2.0 At work, we have a Sony USB DVD burner. It works great with Windows XP, but gives errors when you try to use it on a 2000 computer.
OK, As long as your USB2 drivers are installed correctly, AND you get burning software that supports the drive you purchase, you should be good to go... Don't expect high speed burning though... (8X) Byeeee...
