    hiya

    ive just swagged my way to get a whole years internet on NTL for free cos of all the problems i have had.

    i also now joined adsl broadband with bulldog.

    has anyone got any idea how i could use the two connection at the same time on one pc?

    is there anyway to link up the modems and use it as one connection?

    ie 3mb cable + 2mb adsl = 5mb broadband

    that would be so sweet. so all you amazing people with amazing brains give me your thoughts and ideas on how to achieve this.

    thanks

    so is ther anyway i could use the two connection for two different programs? or even use one for downloading one bittorent file and the other for another bittorrent file?

    ive heard that i could probaly do somethign called multilink. this would mean that the connections would be linked but i would only be able to have two downloads at one rather then one using the full amount available?

    As ddp said, it won't work. What would happen is that you would end up with 2 default gateways but only one can be used to connect to the internet at a time.

    If you use BSD instead of Windows you could check into altq. It is a queueing daemon that lets you set up class based queueing. For example you could specify http traffic to go out one interface and ftp another. I don't know of anything similar for Windows.

    I doubt it could be done, unless there is a program or setting to specifically use different connections. I was initially using an old Windows98 system accessing a home network server under one network card. My broadband was hooked up to a second network card using a different IP segment. This was the only PC that had internet access. I could communicate between my other PC's but the others could not access the internet. I don't know of any program or setting that would specifically set either or both cards to download files simultaneously. I've since upgraded to a faster PC using XP and have switched to a Router. Now everything is under one big segment.

    Another option would be to use two different PC's. One for each internet connection. When downloading files, you can download half on one PC and the other half on the second one, cutting your download time. You will probably need to network everything too...

    @Icemonkey
    I don't think the image in your sig is really appropriate for AD. Please remove it.

    can someone clarify whtther the Edimax BR-6524K router would work with bulldog broadband which uses the PPPoA protocol.

    i think it may because my modem i use is a modem router aswell and i put in all my log in details in my modem. it had an ethernet connection which i connect to the pc with.

    as it is connecing with the ethernet does that mean its PPPoE or not?

    any idea would be a great help.. thanks
