hi there, hoping someone out there can help me with a little prob i have with copying madagascar. I realise there is some protection thing with this dvd, i had managed to use decrypter and that worked fine so i thought but when i tried opening it through dvd shrink it wouldnt work. It kept coming up with this msg invalid data in file. Can someone tell me what or where i went wrong with this? i have it saved to my hard drive and it loads thru power dvd on the pc but cant get it to save to dvd rom. Would appreciate any help i can on this guys :)

simply ripping the data with decrypter wont do the job

Here is a whole thread on Madagascar and several ways to back it up.

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/6/249896#1481736#1481736

Since you have already ripped it then you may have to go with VobBlanker to get rid of the protection. Available at

    http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/

If you have the disk and can rip it again you may then use the free DVD Fab Decrypter available from

    http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Or you can try the 21 day trial of AnyDVD which will break the encryption and you can use Shrink as usual. Available at http://www.slysoft.com

Or you can do the PSL files for decrypter as stated above and then rerip.

arniebears advice is right on, but I wonder about this statement...
Do you have a DVD-RW drive or only a DVD-ROM?

Is your firmware up to date?

These issues can also effect the ability to write your DVD.

hi there guys, thankyou for your input it was greatly appreciated. If i had read a few of the faq before i wrote my thread i would have known what to do. I used VobBlanker on the image saved to my hard drive and it did its little job and was then able to use dvd shrink to burn it to my dvd-r.
Sorry 9mmruger what i meant to say was that i couldnt get it to burn to my dvd burner which is a dual layer liteon, just had trouble that night getting my message to make sense :)
Once again thankyou for your help and response to my problem has been valuable :)
