I have tried using Exact Audio Copy but am not getting good quality music when I try to play them they are distorted. I do everything ok but the play back is poor. I am using a 486DX with low capacity memory could this be the reason. Please tell me the system requirements that I need to have good quality MP3s or the best player to use.

What MP3 player you use? I think 486DX may have trouble decoding the files. What settings are you using for the MP3 encoding?

I too, not all that long ago, had to use a 486 to play back mp3 files. With WinAmp and most other "involved" players, your cpu will not likely be able to handle the playback requirements in real time. (choppy playback).

I have two simple (now discontinued I think) freeware players that are both *most* 486-friendly. (They are two simple versions of a tiny mp3-only player, "AudioActive".)

You can have either or both, if I can find somewhere to upload/email them.
