using the tv/vcr button

hi gang
i just got a hdtv box from comcast and i want to record movies on my
vcr but i dont want to watch the film being recorded i want to watch
regular cable channels.the problem is the tv/vcr button doesnt work
with this new hook up.if i want to record a movie id have to watch it
as its being recorded with the present setup.is there a way i can st-
ill use the tv/vcr button with my new set up?thanks.
