When loading something in TMPGEnc it's a good idea to click on Source Range in the wizard and hold down the slider with the mouse. If there's any audio you'll see the line under the video react. If it's flat line
then it can't detect any audio.

Sometimes all you need to do is drop the video on GoldWave 4.26 or higher, and do a Save As 16 bit signed stereo .wav file. Then when you input the files in TMPGEnc use the .wav file as the audio file.

If that doesn't work you prolly don't have some codecs on your system.

I understand that. What I'm saying is if you look at a guide for using TMPGEnc it shows how to test the video file's sound to see if it's recognized by TMPGEnc. It's by doing that Source Range function. Please look at a TMPGEnc guide to see what I mean. If TMPGEnc shows a flat line for sound, it's not going to output usable audio when it encodes the DVD files.

TMPGEnc is notoriously bad at sound encoding. Try raising the prioity of DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to 2 by right clicking on it: Options>Environmental Settings>VFAPI Plugin. Or, as MilesAhed said, convert audio to wav with Goldwave (shareware) or Virtualdub (freeware); guides for both at VideoHelp.com. Also, ensure you're selecting interlaced; most video is interlaced and that can kill your sound, too, Most likely, you need to convert the audio to wav.
