I have just added a second dvd burner (Pioneer DVR-A10XLA)to my computer. I have always been used to copying dvds using the one dvd drive with various programs like Nero, Shrink etc. Is there any advantage in using one to load the the disc and the second to burn the movie as opposed to using just one drive? Is there less or more likelihood of freezing or is there no difference other than time taken to complete copy?
I have one DVD burning (internal) and one DVD drive (also internal) and have always used one for reading the other for writing! Never a problem, unless it's the disk itself (bad press or crappy media). I think it's easier and less handling of the disks. That's it. Unless you are burning on the fly (not recommended) then it's even faster! Should take you the same amount of time to read and burn .....there is no difference between using one drive or having two! in my opinion other than handling disks.
I agree with IHoe, however he rips/burns differently than I. I use DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker, then Shrink/DVD Decrypter in that order. After starting Shrink, which includes to start Decrypter, using 2 drives enables me to rip/burn with out any intervention on my part. When I hear the music from Decrypter I then know the ripping/burning process has completed successfully, and then I just need to print the cover, and Voila, I am all done. Regards, Rich
I use DVDFab Express....unless the quality of the encoding is less than 80% then I use DVDDEcryter and DVDRebuilder Pro with CCE for the best possible quality you can get. It takes a lot longer but it's the best! And if you have a large screen then it will show! but having two drives helps alot!
LionelS, I have two drives also but rarely use them in tandem. One is faster then the other both reading and writing so I prefer the faster one. In cases when the DVD is in bad shape sometime I have to resort to the slower drive which is able to handle the scratched disks better. I always rip to HD and work from there.
