Can somebody please help or advise me. I'm getting close to giving up which is not in my nature. I've searched constantly for days looking for the answer, here is my problem.

After installing the chip, I boot the PS2 and it displays the Modbo logo and I can access the config (Circle+Triangle) but it will not boot any backups. It will boot all PAL originals, R1 DVD movies and backup DVD movies but no game backups. It always goes to the red screen asking me to insert PS1/PS2 format disc.

I initially installed the chip on the board as advised, but then opted to wire each point individually (which made no difference)I've also tried a shorter ground wire & using Z wire. I've checked all points numerous times, checked all for continuity and still I get exactly the same results.

I have tried all different brands of CDR's & DVD-R/+R. It will play all my backup movies on all brands of DVD's, but no game backups. It always goes to RSOD... Please insert blah blah blah

Please take a look at my work and see if you can spot anything obvious.

Hey, I'm no expert, just did my first mod with a modbo 4.0 and V9 PS2 and had the same problem as you. I read on another forum that G, H, B, I, A are the DVD patching points. I redid these and now it works! Make sure too that you scratch the brown covering off the points on the PCB traces to expose the shiny copper color (I can't see if you have already done this)
BTW your wiring looks really neat! (MUCH better than mine...) Hope you get it working! (It was very frustrating for me too!)

Thanks for the reply Zombi, but I've already done this on more than one occasion and my solder joints look good but still nothing happens. My only conclusion is the chip is knackered, is that feasable?

My next question is if I invest in a Matrix Infinity or Messiah will I still get the same results?

    UPDATE NOW WORKING

I read about alternate 3.3v points with modbo's so I thought I would give it one last try before my Duo 3 Ultra arrives. Anyway I soldered to another point, booted it up to a black screen, gutted. Then realised I'd put 5v to it on new point, so put it back on 3.3v (same point it was previously on) booted again & success... So what's all that about??

Anyway I'm not bothered, Im just glad it works.. Happy days.
