ok, so ive had a V3 for a while, and i have been trying for A F***ING LONG TIME to connect it to my pc using the data cable (the tools never included the disc, tools!) anyway, rather than kill someone in close proximity to me. i have decided to enlist the help of what appear to be a highly knowledgeable crowd. now, before you all tell me INSTALL MPT, P2K, AND THE USB MODEM DRIVERS. IVE DONE THAT 4000 F****ING TIMES!!! TO QUOTE MY FRIEND WHO ALSO HAS A V3 "ITS A REAL C***".

so, i need to connect the two, and ive tried installing, uninstaling, installing, updating, i tried to use MOBILedit!, i tried to uninstall the "Motorola USB Modem" and start over, i have tried it all, and gotten nowhere. all the guides, similar problems, everything. none of it helps me. so if anyone bitches about me posting an old problem I WILL END YOU! *cough*cough*sorry...

ok, so now you see the severity of my problem, i hope someone can shed some light on my problem.

    cheers crew!

I had the same problem as you for quite a while, see my guide here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255592

The key is in bold at the bottom, about having the phone off when you try to connect it to MPT, also make sure you update your MPT to at least 3.11, thats what works for me and my V3. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

what is your operating system? I'm not sure if it would matter but I have XP. You should be able to see the motorola modem in your devices after you install the p2k driver with the found new hardware wizard...i'll look back over and see if i missed anything

also what is your specific problem? is it that MPT will say initializing but never actually do it?

Don't get mad, but are you sure your USB cable is 2.0?

im runnin xp, and i know the pc has usb2.0, the cable is the one that came with the ohone, so i would hope it was 2.0. now, i can install/update mpt, and it does say initialing for ages, and not do anything. also, there is no mototrola modem listed, but still i get the ding sound. i cant explain it.

I think it's the driver too, would you be willing to go to motomodders.net and install P2K Tools? I think the driver might install on it's own from that program.

for now at least, i have it working, i changed usb ports, and the hardware wizard ran for new software, which was just awesome, so all is well, for now. ive heard of people only having it work one time.

I have heard that some proggies MPT included will only work with your phone if on com 3 or 4. Don't know if that's true, but you can check what com your motorola phone is on by going into

start > settings > control panel > phone and modem options
