I have been having this problem for a while now. I contacted Sony and they suggested buying a new computer. I wish I could afford that, right?

The computer randomly shuts down. By random, I mean sometimes 10 times in one day and some times I can go 3 days without anything happening.

I checked my event log and believe it has something to do with SonyMxTimer (the Sony tech could not tell me what it is or does). That is always the last entry in the event log when the shutdown occurs.

I have tried to install NAV2K, but it will not run liveupdate. I have tried using various online "free" scans (ie. symantec). I have not found one that will complete. Without fail, about 1/2 way through any scan, the computer shuts down like it hits some trigger.

On top of that, today I've been getting this error: tgcmd.exe - Bad Image. The description states sdcidle.dll is not a valid Windows image.

Oh, and also, this computer was originally used by my mother-in-law who has since forgotten the administrator password. So, I can't log in that way either.

I was able to run smitfraud in safe mode, here is the report:

And lastly, here is my hjt log:

[bold]Thank you in advance for any assistance as this is driving me crazy![/bold]

What is the polite amount of time to wait for an anticipated response?

It has been almost a week and I am curious because some days I can barely get any work done on this frustrating machine.

    Please and Thank You!
