   Would very much like to know if its possible to revert a vcd back into its original avi/mpeg format, in order to create backups.
   Any help yould be greatly appreciated/

   well to create a backup of a vcd, why dont you just copy it like any other disk??
   
   anyway, i believe that you can extract an mpg from a vcd using VCDeasy!
