hi i was just wandering if i need codecs to watch a vcd movie with windows media player? i tried watching it in media player, and it worked but the picture and sound quality was really bad... thanks
no you dont need codecs to watch the mpeg file from a vcd, because a vcd is basically just that, a mpeg file. the sound and picture is bad in win media player because the player itself is bad. use another player, there are millions out there that have better audio/video quality than win media player. cheerz
Now if you're trying to watch a (S)VCD however you will need to watch it on a dvd player (i.e., PowerDVD or WinDVD)
Besides changing players (I like Media Player Classic personally) I'd say that VCD isn't a particularly good format for playing on a PC. I can't speak to the sound quality, but if you're trying to watch it in full screen mode you shouldn't expect much in the way of video quality. The resolution of a standard VCD is only 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL) so even if you have your resolution set to 800x600 the picture will be stretched both horizontally and vertically. And of course the VCD could just be poorly encoded to begin with. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a night.
