with the wizard turned off..when nero opens a window pops up..on the left where you choose what kind of disc you make..you choose "video cd"
i am guessing you did this already seeing that you made one...in that same window up at the top is tabs..click on the one that says"menu"
when it opens ..check the little box that says"enable menu"
where it says "background picture" click browse and find a pic on your puter.you can mess around with the other stuff if you like (the other stuff is for the text color and size and where the text in the menu will be..ex:center..left..etc)
when finished..click "new in the upper right corner.
to the right should be the "file browser" window.
find your already vcd format encoded mpegs and drag them to the window on the left....you can drag up to 98 movies OR up to 80 mins on a 700 meg cd.
after you drag in the first movie ..right click on the movie from the window on the left and select "properties" it will show you what the menu will look like...when you are done dragging..just before you burn the disc..right click all the movie clips on the left and change where it says "pause after track" to 0 seconds..but only do this to the movie clips.the one that says" menu page 1" must be at "infinite"
let us know how it goes and sorry its so long.

Why does it have to be infinite? I have created menues and set the pause to however many seconds, eg. 15. It worked, but there was one weird thing though. I had about three movies on that particular VCD and when I played each of them after about 10-15 minutes into the films, the picture gets gradually worse, Why does it have to be infinite? It looks like the picture pulsates in second intervals. Do you know what I mean? Pulsates as in like if somebody hits the DVD player every second. The movies I encoded where using the DivX codec. Other VCDs and DVDs work fine.I also don’t seem to be able to use Tmpgenc to encode DivX files. Is there an alternate encoder for files using the DivX codec?

the menu is infinite because if you set it for say 10 seconds..then after 10 seconds it will start playing number 1(i think).with infinite..the menu will stay there until you push a number.you said you used the divx codec....not if its a vcd....tmpg DOES encode divx but virtual dub might be for you.as far as the pulsating problem..maybe someone else can help you with that.

Hey, you can actually decode or convert any file with TMPGEnc. This is the fastest and the best software out there so i would advice using it. All you have to is go to OPTION>ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS>VFAPI Plug-in.
Then change the priority of DirectShow to 2 (yes 2, not 1, not 3). Make sure the rest is 0 , except AVI Compatibility Reader, that should be -2.
Then just the files you want. Settings like shadow correction can be found under SETTINGS in the bottom right corner. This si also where you select what type of file you want (VCD!!!).
