I have these AVI files which have sound and play perfectly on WMP. I used TMPGEnc to pass them to MPEG, then used Nero to burn them, as instructed. However, when I place it on my DVD Player, there's no sound. There's no sound either when I play it with PowerDVD. What's weird is that when I play the MPEG file in WMP, it does have sound, once I burn it, it doesn't. Does anybody know what is wrong with it? Thanx.
well when you used TMPGEnc I assume you used the project wizard to make the vcd??? if not then say so Anyway, try using good media and burning at no less than 4x. That sometimes solves problems!
i am having the same problem. You can detect if the avi file is going to do this by trying to open it in VirtualDub first. It will give a warning if the file's audio is going to cause problems. If so, here is my fix- 1. Use VirtualDub to extract the audio and save it as a wav file. 2. Encode in TMPGEnc using the avi for the video source and the wav as the audio source. Do not use the Source Range feature! Make it one big mpeg file. 3. Split this file as necessary using the "merge and cut" tab on the MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc. When i split the file, i find that i am losing audio in the last 30 seconds or so of the new file, so i make sure to overlap the segments. It's a crappy solution, but the easiest i've found so far. If you do step one and then do step two with the source range, the second file will have sound but it will be badly out of sync. I am not hardcore enough to sync it by hand! I'm still searching for an easier way... PS: I am doing my files for SVCD and then using the 'header trick'. This might have different results than just doing VCD.
