VCD suddenly won't playback on PC

I have a weird situation here. I used to be able to watch VCDs on my PC using various players (MS Media Player, Winamp, Nero). Suddenly the other day I am no longer able to do this. "Format not supported". The thing is these VCDs play flawlessly on my home VCD player.

 

have you tried opening the dat file in windows media player ....?

 

yes, that's how i play VCDs, sorry i forgot to mention. essentially it seems that the codec for mpeg1 dissappeared.

 

wrecker I would try installing media player and see if that works
