I have a Apex 1100W which will play only svcd and not vcd. My cousin has been sending me old family movies in vcd format and I would like to convert them to SVCD.....obviously I am not worried too much about image quality loss, but simply the ability to play them! Can anyone reccomend software for VCD to svcd? Thanks! DJ
You need flaskmpeg and tmpgenc. Open tmpgenc. click file, mpg tools. click the multiplex tab and click add. Browse to your vcd. Open a folder called mpegav. your vcds will be in here with the extension .mpg or .dat. If you cant see any files make sure you have filetypes set as all files. open any of them. You should now see a video stream and audio stream listed. Type an output for your file. When tmpgenc is finished with your file, open flask mpg. click file, open file and browse for the file you just created. Click options, global project options. In the video tab make your width 480 and height 576. If in america select 29.97 frames per second if in europe use 25 frames per second. Click the audio tab and make sure decode audio is selected. make sure same as input isnt selected and select 44100Hz. Click the general tab. Dont select compile whole file. click seconds and enter the length of your movie in seconds (windows media player will open the file you just created with tmpgenc). Now click ok Click Run, Start Conversion Before you start click settings. Click the video stream settings tab. Select video type as svcd and click ok Now click start and the conversion time will depend on the length of your movie. You can burn this to a disk with nero burning rom.
Ye try viewing them with Intervideo WinDVD. It won't autoplay like normal dvds but it works as soon as you open it up If you just have it as an mpeg file on your computer you can use windvd too. You'll find the open button on the toolbar. You know the rest yourself
