i have an alba dvd stand alone player linked to my sharp vcr player via a singal scart lead as advised by someone. But when i try to copy a vcd to vhs there are lines on the picture of the vhs but the vcd is of excellent quality. why is this happening??? i was told that if you try to record a dvd whith dvd player linked with a vcr that you have to have a special box to remove the macrovision as the flms makes the dvd kick in but was told this does not hapen with vcd's .... so what am i doing wrong???? Thanks to thouse who reply scribbla

that is because macrovision is designed to mess up VHS, not VCD. Since VCD's are being read by a DVD player, the player already knows how to play it. If you want to put it on VHS, you will need to get a separate piece of hardware, a macrovision filter, to place between your DVD player and your VCR.
