* VCR friendly * dvd player to Sony DRX 500ULX

    Can I make back up copies with the aforementioned hardware on the fly?

    If you have two DVD systems, one a player the other a recorder, you can make back-up copies on the fly. However, i would not recommend doing this. It only takes a few extra minutes to copy to hard drive first.

    Thanks Oriphus,

    I have been successfully using DVD Decrypter/DVD2one/Nero or DVD Copy X for a while now...just curious about on the fly method. No coasters with DVD-R/-RW media. The Sony DRX 500ULX external has performed well thus far.

    I've never had problems with on the fly (with Nero) with original unencrypted dvds.

    I copy films off the tv onto my philips stand alone DVD+R/RW. I then copy the +/Rw disc Onto +r onmy computer on the fly using Nero. No coasters so far, must have fast proceser 2400+ and DMA activated.
