I got Nero as part of a recent purchase of a Sony DVD burner. Problem is that when I simply try to play the AVI file in VisionExpress 3 it plays very choppy, updating a frame only every half to one second at best. When I play it in Showtime or MediaPlayer it plays fine. I had a copy of Pinnacle software which I uninstalled an used Nero's Clean Tool to clean up drivers and such but it did no good. I'm no expert user here, don't know a codec from...anything. But I can't edit several AVI's together into a movie with this happening. The Nero software was one of the reasons I bought the DVD drive package, but from what I've read lately Nero seems to be no great shakes as it's so touchy. I appreciate any suggestions. A few detailsL 1) Video card is an NVIDEA Riva TNT2 Model 64, Windows can't find a more updated driver, tried to download from nvidea but software wouldn't recognize that I needed anything updated. 2) Although CleanTool said there were no old Pinnacle drivers, device manager lists under video controllers "Pinnacle LINX" a number of drivers including ks.sys, iyuv_32.dll, ksproxy.ax, vdrcode.dll, and vidcap.as among others. 3) AVI files are stored on a second drive, not reading from discs. Tried Nero support, but it took a looonnngg time for them to respond, their website is useless for support, and I need to edit burn a DVD of my daughter's volleyball season to send to several colleges SOON! Thanks again for any help! Sparky
Are you trying to burn video taken with a camcorder? If so how did you connect the camcorder to the PC? USB or Firewire?
I connected my digital camera to the computer through a firewire cable. The AVI file is there on my hard drive, complete and plays back perfectly well. It's when I open it in VE3 to try to edit it tht it plays choppy to the point that I can't determine where I'm making cuts. Audio plays fine. It's strictly a VE3 phenomenon. Just to reiterate, the software came with my Sony drive adn I have no serial # and their website is useless. Appreciate your thoughts! Sparky
PLEASE!? Can't anyone help? I can't get an answer from Nero, I need an answer. I hate to beg, but am more willing to since no one knows me personally....
A few things to try. Make sure dma is on for the drives. You might try moving the avi to the main hdd instead of the second drive. Load the avi in gspot or avicodec to see if you need a codec for some odd reason. Good Luck
