    Well then somebody should try them at 2.4x to either 6x or 8x (whatever the highest speed is) & post the results.

    Yeah, you're right. I'm a bit skeptical about it, especially not knowing a return policy from Microcenter on opened DVDs. If I knew there wouldn't be a problem, I'd jump right in.

    Maybe JoeRyan will put his knowledge in on this question of the quality of Verbatim DVD+R DL MII .

    WOW just got mine today!!! That was fast. Now does anyone know how good these are and what approach we should take in terms of burning speeds? Any info will help out thanks.

    ok just did 2 burns at 4x. The first burnt at 4x, but the second one wouldn't go beyond 2.4x during burning even though it was set for 4x. In the end, so far so good both are working properly ;)

    I guess they won't burn faster than 4x then?

    Now this is just me: I don't try to burn DL beyond 4x or SL beyond 8x. Keep in mind now, it depends on your burner. Just because the media is rated at 8x or 16x, that really means "up to". Think of it this way - your car may be capable of speeds of 140 mph and the speed limit on the road in front of your house is 30 mph. Are you gonna try to push either limit? Not me. Maybe I'm just too old and conservative of a geiser. It's like when I cook - slow and steady - and it will turn out fit for a king.

    When I burn, I turn off my networking and virus protection, and I throttle it back. It works for me.

    So, bratcher, are you pleased thusfar with the media? Is the MID India?

    usually 12x is the sweet spot for most 16x media

    Sweet spot? As in the best speed to use? OK I'll test my remaining Prodisc and some Ritek (Both Maxell) at 8 & 12x then look at the results with DVDinfopro. But then I'm not a speed demon so thats why I had settled on 8x.

    Can you post some 8 & 12x scans for whatever SL media your using?

    I've found that the sweet spot for my drives with the 2.4x verb MIS is 4x. Burns well @ 2.4x but slightly better @ 4x. For the 8x MIS verbs, they burn the best @ 6x.

    Haven't tried the MII 2.4x verbs yet. Usually only use printables and haven't had any MII snaked in on my yet, but plan on trying to find some locally to try.

    I agree with mord, 12x on the 16x SL media has been the sweetest for me.

    So any idea if these MII verb DL are the way to go? It seems like most stores are carrying MII. Where can we find the MIS ones if they are truley the better DL's? I would like to know how we can see if these are any good.

    I just cracked open my first pack of MII. I've attempted to burn five discs and had one coaster. I looked at the underside and it was clearly a manufacturing defect. Looks like small blood-blister on it, and that's where the writing stopped. I checked the rest and they look okay, no visible defects.

    As for burning, they seem to be just as good as the MIS. The playback appears good, and the spinup seems to be a bit faster. No scan tests or anything, just casual observance.

    @bratcher

    You can look through this thread for scans of various burn speeds of various media.

    @rcm99, anyone,

    If anyone does do some scans of the MII verbs, I know that the people who follow the thread above would be interested in seeing some scans.

    Sounds good so far then 4 out of 5 is not bad at all. How did you know it was a coster? Did it stop during the burning process or defective on playback? Thanks for the info guys. Ok so i poped open mine and burned 2 items both went threw well and the playback is fine the only problem was i burned both at 4x but the 2nd one burned at 2.4 even though it was set for 4x. Not a big deal just a little more time required.

    If you are looking for the MIS in a B&M store, you have to hunt through their stock, checking the labels. For mail order, it looks like it's a crap shoot.

    4 good out of 5 = 20% failure. That's bad. With MIS Verbs, I get pissed it I have 1 out of 100. Actually, I can't remember a bad burn using them that wasn't a hardware or my fault.

    yeah your right when you put it like that 20% is high, but keep us posted as you progress threw your 20 pack. I'll do the same i got my MII from the microcenter deal (so far 2-0). so it looks like next time i'll be hunting in stores when they go on sale.

    The MII DL discs are starting to tick me off. I just opened a 20 pack and have 3 bad discs out of 7 discs, not good at all.

    I am going to call Mirco Center and see if I can return the packs I didn't open (I ordered 4 packs thinking this was a good deal). The first disc stopped at about 50% but the last 2 at about 90%. I've had better luck with the Memorex ones I used a few years back.

    I finally decided to take the plunge and try the Verbatim DL MII - absolute trash. I inadvertently posted my results here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/570115#3467763, instead of this forum.

    Anyway, steer clear. We need to find another DL disc since it looks like Verbatim has fallen.
