Unless you have modified fw this burner, which I guess is a NEC will not booktype. It only booktypes +R DL media not +R single layer. As for your BenQ use the BenQ suite to set the booktype, or get DVD InfoPro it will allow you to set the booktype and will then automatically do it for you in every program.
Older Panasonic DVD-R/-RAM set-top recorders will not record DVD-RW discs. Panasonic was sticking to the DVD Forum rules as tightly as possible, and the DVD-R was the official write-once disc and DVD-RAM was the original "official" rewritable disc. (Newer Panasonic models introduced late last year will write to DVD-RW.) Panasonic recorders and many of their players would not play DVD+R or DVD+RW discs because they are not "official" DVD Forum formats. That's where bit setting comes it: it changes the ADIP code in the DVD+R and DVD+RW discs to misidentify the discs as "DVD-ROM" discs so that older players know what to do with them and restrictive drives/players are fooled into playing them. DVD-R is a recognized format for the DVD Forum; so that plus the fact that DVD-R does not use ADIP mean book settings for DVD-R are not necessary. The Verbatim MCC O2RG20 made in Taiwan are excellent discs. CMC Magnetics makes them. That should make a few people rethink their anti-CMC bias, especially after the company overhauled their entire disc production processes in December.
SupermediaStore has Verbatim DVD+DL 10packs for $14 (after rebate) and free shipping! Always had good luck with this merchant.
@JoeRyan See my post in this thread. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/318856 Verbatim indicates that MCC manufactures their media. Where are you pulling your information from. Inquiring minds want to know. Cheers.
9mmruger1, I answered in another thread before I saw the question here, too. Sorry. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/318856
@thelox714 I asked CMC if they manufactured the Verbatims and they would not provide the information. That is why I was asking JoeRyan where he is getting his information. As of yet I haven't understood where the info is coming from or how it can be verified.
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation manufacturer's most of the GRADE A verbatim discs. These are discs that come in 50 packs usually not retail packed, they just have a white sticker with the info on the cakebox. The CMC Magnetics manufactured discs say VERBATIM but they are usually in 100 packs, some are retail made, like the ones from Sams Club and Walmart, these are basically Verbatim's GRADE B media. They work well, but not in everything. MCC coded discs are still the best. I have been getting them from http://www.mediamegamall.com and they all say MCC for the code, I bought some at Sams and they said CMC. The codes look so much alike!!! THOSE PUNKS!
