After all the trouble i've been having (see all my other posts) I've discovered that if I use Verbatim DVD+Rs to backup I have ZERO problems at all! I'm using decrypter and shrink. I'm booktyping to DVD-ROM and burning at 1X. I also purchased a CyberHome DVD Player and it powers through any and all problems I had before. And it only cost $35 at Target. Thanks for all the help and answering all my inane questions!!!

    Yea that's good stuff ... it's what I use.

But you don't need to burn at 1x. 4x should be fine. and if you can find a rebate, I got my Cyberhome for $15 after rebate.

Using good media can make all the difference in the world!
Now that you're using good media, try burning at faster speeds. All mine burn at 8X, and I like that............

    Hi there,

I have elto crapo media at home :)

    That's before I became a member here.
I burn all those at 2x and I'm fine.

Now I know to get Taiyo Yuden.

Anyway, one day I was a futureshop, and saw some Maxell DVD-R

    Media ID: MXL RG03

Bought 1 pack just for the hell of it !

Just for testing purposes, I burned 2 of those at 8x, using 2 different software and was amazed they both came up error free using VSO Inspector and DVDInfoPro CRC Check.

They both played my all my DVD players.

So yes, I agree, media quality is the answer to all our problems :)

Next buy, Taiyo Yuden from www.blankmedia.ca since I live in Canada...

i use 2 Cyberhome CH-400's - fantastic machines. But more importantly, welcome to the world of Verbatim discs. I'm just starting out with the 16x +R ones after huge success with the 8x -R ones
