I have been using an Iomaga Super DVD Writer 16X16 Duel-Format USB 2.0 External Drive. It has been working fine for the past three years. Yesterday I bought a hundred spindle of Verbatim DVD-R's. Well, they don't work at all. Does anyone know why? Will DVD+R's work? Sorry for such a basic question. Bill
Not only updating the firmware as 7thsinger suggests (actually it would real smart to), try using Imgburn, free from www.imgburn.com IMHO, best burning engine out there, and seems to work with most media.
It is reported that some of the new verbs are made in China, so quality may be spotty, although this is not the reputation of verbs (their rep was always consistent quality)
I have the same problem When I pop in a Verbatim DVD in ImgBurn, it sayys: Cannot read Medium, uknown format DX
That Imgburn program looks really slick. It didn't work with these Verbatim disks though. I get a "Connot write medium - Incompatible Format" error. They were made in Taiwan. I guess I need to try some DVD+R and see if they work.
