    Here's my question: I bought BOTH Verbatim(+R made in Taiwan and says Mitsubishi Chemical Corp), and Maxell(+R made in Taiwan). Which is better to use? Are they both good? Is one not good? I heard both are good.

    while both are very good, sometimes no matter how good the disc, some burners just don't like some brands of manufacturers.....
    but my choice would be Verbatim

    Both of them are equally good, so actually it's all about your choice of preferences. The Maxell 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" is as flawless as the Verbatim 8X DVD+R (MCC003). They're both rank as #1 class media. I've had more experiences with the Maxell "M.I.J" and honestly I would say they're as superior as the famous Taiyo Yuden in my opinion.

    @lube99,

    I don't know anything about the Maxell DVD+R being said or manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. Unless I'm missing something here, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and or perhaps I have not yet touched any Maxell that is made by MCC only?? According to my understanding, the Maxell 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" is manufactured by Hitachi. So, I can't say that that is a bad thing for sure about the Maxell being made by MCC (Made In Taiwan).

    Again, my motto for media is mainly "Made In Japan" for Taiyo Yuden, Fuji & Sony and Maxell. Other than that, it all boils down to the individual's preferences.

    I haven't encountered any mitsubishi maxells,but when it comes to media,anything can happen.

    I'll take those verbatims only in the +8x stating: Datalife Plus. That's the MCC-003.The MCC-002 are pretty good,but just not as good as the 003's.

    Maxell plus media that I have used and all performed equally:
    +4x-Ricohjpn-01: Made in taiwan
    +8x- Maxell-002-00: Made in Japan
    +8x- Ritek-R03: Made in taiwan.

    I've grown quite fond of the Ritek-r03's. They are also on the Office depot +8x 100 pack spindles.You can get these on sale for under 30 cents apiece verses maxells for 35-40 cents apiece when they are on sale.

    As long as they state MCC and not CMC, you should be ok.

    Like zippyd posted,They are good,but some burners may not like those MID codes and format.Your stand alones may also not like them.Best to try a small batch to find out for yourself.

    Oops! I meant that the VERBATIM say "a subsidary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp". Maxell just says made in Taiwan. How do I find out what the code is?(i.e. ricohjpn or MCC03, etc?)
