I have been trying to burn some files to DVD and have burned about 6 coasters now. After the 3rd coaster, i started looking into this forum for advice, and have done a few things. I updated my ASPI drivers and my firmware for my dvd burner, but I am still burning coasters. The burn process seems to work fine, no errors given or anything, but the verification process takes hours, way longer than what it should take. Last time i let it chug it was at a 12 hour burn and only at 5% done verifying before i aborted it. Here is my most recent burn log, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Your burner doesn't like the media you are using
Try using another media such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden

Just ordered a 100 pack of Taiyo Yuden for a very good price. Hopefully that will solve my issues. Find out in about a week :)

You have a DMA OFF for a drive also:
And here is alkohol's guide to fixing that:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

You also have INCD installed, and it needs to be removed using Nero's INCD zapper program:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html
Some of the WORST media out there. Just ask killer kitty what he thinks of them :)

That d347prt is a virtual drive emulation likely from Daemon Tools. It should not cause a problem but if it does you will have to uninstall Daemon Tools to get rid of it.

Thanks for clearing that up whompus. I saw the DMA OFF and didn't look too closely at the drive but did notice it was port 3.

Just out of curiosity, why do you do that extra step of data verification ? Have you tryed to watch any of those DVDs? I am just curious, coz I never do that. Once it tells me "Burn process successful", I pop it in the player and if it plays fine, I really don't care that much about scanning for quality or stuff...Just curious...When I do want to play around with quality scanning and stuff, I use CD-DVD Speed.

My first burn i didnt care with verifying. But I always check my burn before I delete the files of my hard drive, and when i tried watching what I burned to dvd, some files could not be played back. That got me wondering, so i verified next burn, and yup, loads of errors. Normally though, i do not worry about verifying. I guess I have too much faith in my media.

I understand what you mean. I DO verify the burn before I delete the encoded files, but I am pleased with my "eyescan". If it plays well, that's all I care. Plus, I can't really rely on my drive to do the scan. I have a NEC 3550A, and althogh is a great burner, I don't think is such a good scanner. In your case, the playbak issues, I would bet my money on CMC Mag...

I just got my package of new DVD-Rs today and did a test burn, and everything worked out perfectly! Verification took like 2 minutes, not 2+ hours!!! I am thrilled. Thank you everyone for your help. I never knew that media had so much to do with the burning success rate. I do now though, thanks everyone.
