What program? Typically no...a verification inspects the data on the disc against the data from the source to see that it has been written correctly bit for bit. I stand by the assumption that if it plays it's OK by me...but if you fail verification you may not be able to rerip the copy.
IMGBurn does have a verification box that you can check. I personally don't trust most burning software's verification. It's better to use DOS' FC /b <file1> <file2>.
