The newest version has a lot of intrusive junk, so I went back
    to 8.0

I was just wondering if there's any appreciable difference in audio quality between older + newer versions (e.g.,
RealPlayer Basic version 8 and the latest RealPlayer 10.5.)

I don't think which ever version you use will affect the quality of an audio file

I have older (free) versio on my PC just because for some internet pages.

It`s quite useless program (I have Winamp and VLC)

Why is it useless? You need it to play a lot of internet content.
    Winamp is also good.

Because of that. Only some internet video-clip is with that...
And for media in HD -> There is better software for that.
