Hey I just got a new tv its a 27" toshiba flatscreen. The TV comes with verticle compression. My question is do I have to turn it on(There is a button on the remote that says 16x9, is that the right button? I heard if I turned the dvd player to 16x9 option I will get a 33% resolutuon increase. SO my real question is do both the tv and dvd player have to be set to 16x9.

thanks very much, the manual didnt have this kind of info.

Yes the DVD player must be set to output a 16:9 signal for V. Compression to have any beniifit. I can tell you that it will improve over all resolution alot.
