Well, about 3 weeks ago i purchased a Pioneer DVD and CD burner. it works great on dvds but for some reason it only allows me to burn like a cd to a cd. it won't let me burn mp3's to a cd for a regular audio cd. before i got it the original cd burner would work fine for me (never 1 problem nothing) so then i thought maybe something is wrong with the pioneer drive so i put the old one back in and tried and same thing happened. Nero sometimes will just stay at 0% and time will go up to almost 15 min and nothing will happen. other times, it will get up to 4% and not move for 15 minutes. i don't know whats going on. my favorite thing to do on the computer is burn cd's and i'm going out of my mind that i can't figure it out.

THanks in advance. anything is helpful

    Hi rolando88
Which version of Nero are you using like 6.6.0.18 or 7.0.8.2?
Think I have this straight - you can burn dvd's, do a copy to copy for cd's but when trying to burn a mp3 audio cd Nero hangs. Where does it hang?

Hangs at 0% sometimes and sometimes 4%. And i tried using like Blaze Media Pro also just to try it and when i go to burn it says file is not compatiable to burn. but is a regular mp3 and i even tried songs i've burned before this whole problem start and it says the same thing.

Which version of Nero Ultra, version 7.5.1.1 seems to work fine for me, but 7.0.8.2 is the proven working version at the moment, either should serve you well.

Ok look here for the version of 7 you have - NeroToolKit>InfoTool>Software tab.

Are you using Burning Rom or Express to make the cd? If using Express try burning rom or vice versa.

I'm not familar w/ Blaze so can't help on that error - maybe something wrong up the mp3's. Do the mp3's play ok?

When you hooked up the new drive do the jumper pins on the drive match the connector - like master to master - or for Dell pc's cable select?

Few more things - good to do regulary if not already- run virus & spyware scans, do a disc cleanup and system defrag.

You asked about the jumper pins. right now i was having a problem at first with them but question to u is the one drive is DVD-ROM. the bottom one is DVD Burner and CD burner drive. what should be what?

Also i tried using burning rom/ express both and same thing. does'nt even buffer if u know what imtalking about on nero that ultra buffer thing.

Well don't they have to be hooked up right if nero burns the DVD's and COPY CD 2 CD?

    It's 7.0.8.2

THe MP3's used to burn all the time before all this crap started. and they all play with no problem.

    And it is a DELL

I have a Dell 4400, both cable select and master/slave combos have worked for me. Both drives are on the same ribbon cable so that shouldn't be an issue. But some people prefer that the burner be the master, and the source drive be set as slave.

Ok if you're able to do everything else but mp3's drives are okay.
Anything else change pc wise besides installing a new drive when this problem starting happening?

If you have Windows Media Player try burning w/ that. If this fails something may be up file the files themselves.

Another option would be uninstalling Nero, run the clean tool, reboot, run a registry cleaner like ccleanerthan isntalling Nero again. You can use the same version 7.0.8.2 or try the new 7.5.1.1.

Well some progress :) But yep a definite pain.
Post the log and we can take a peak. Just post the last one - should be this failure. Just be sure to edit your serial # - begins w/ 1A, 1C or 5C - usually at the log for burning logs.

You can find it here: program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory
