    1. This is my first MP3 player so please bear with my ignorance. When I plug the device to the USB cable to charge the battery, the screen remains lit for the 3.5 hours it takes to charge. Is this normal?

    2. I read in the manual that you could set the device to "do nothing" when plugged. Where do you configure this feature, at the Sansa (I checked the setting menu but did not see this option) or at the Rhapsody program (didn't see the option either)

    Thanks in advance

Yes the screen will stay lit if the unit is charging. Some people have had success by plugging the usb cable into the computer about 1/2 way so only the power pins connect.

I have the 280 and have not seen a way to turn the player screen off while charging. I'll see what I can find out.
