OK I downloaded a few episodes of a TV show off of MIRC and I also recently purchased a DVD burner. I tried to burn the episodes to dvd using NERO, but Nero, although able to play the files with it's built in Showtime program, couldn't recognize the file( or some such error ) and the VCD burning portion of Nero was closed due the the error. I then read a guide on converting the file from AVI to MPEG. So I downloaded TMPGEnc and tried to convert the show files(which were .avi's) to MPEG or SVCD. TMPGEnc did the same thing, said it cannot open the file or it is 'unsupported'. Not sure what kind of file it is. I downloaded it as it is, an avi, wasnt even a .tar or .zip that I had to unpack. Pure avi. So, my final question is, how do I get this onto a DVD/CD so I can watch it on my DVD player? thanks

Try using NeroVision Express. It's in Nero Ultra 6. It will convert the files and allow you to create your own menu for them and then you can burn right out of the same proggy.

One thing, it will not compress so files must total up to less than 4.37 or you will have to use them in recode after conversion 1st, to re-author and/or compress.

NVE handles avi files. CD's don't normally hold but 80 min. while dvd holds 120 min. You can split it on 2 discs if you wish or write to the HD out of NVE and use recode to compress to fit on one dvd and burn out of it.
