I am very confused I had a thread in this forum about convertxtodvd. Anyway now I can't back up any of my regular dvd's. I was having trouble with convertxtodvd now when i try to back up my regular dvds my dvd player (my stand alone home player) just sits at the loading stage and goes no further. I know alot of people will say it is my media. (Imation DVD-R) but this is the same media that I have been using for quite some time now with no problems. The program i use for backing up is the ripit4me program which contains DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink along with FixVTS. The program seems to be doing exactly the same thing it was before when the discs would burn properly. Last is my drive I have a Samsung SH-S182D drive and seems to be burning as it should. So my question is this is there any way that I can test and see what my problem is, maybe bad couple of discs (even though all the others worked from the same batch), My drive, or the program not working as it should, or is it something else that maybe I haven't thought of? Please help as i am very confused and don't know what to do.

I didn't really see any problems with the disc after running the nero program. (Although I really didn't know exactly what to be looking for.) But nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I'm wondering if maybe one of the settings of dvd shrink or dvd decrypter got changed either by mistake or some other way. Because the discs seem o.k. and I have been using these discs for quite some time now without problems so I would have trouble believing that all of a sudden it was the discs. So it's either the programs or the drive itself. I'm steering away from it being the drive because I sat in here while it was doing the program and it did burn the info. unless it is malfuctioning and not burning the correct info to the disc if that makes any sense. Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks

Your burner is burning the disks ok.You proved that by importing the resulting files into DVD Shrink.

If the AVI has not been converted to NTSC when it is burned to a DVD it will play on the PC ok, but not on a standalone..

An AVI which has been converted to NTSC and burned to a dvd may not play on a standalone because it has been burned at too high a speed or it is poor media. It will probably play on the pc.

You have proved that your burner is ok by importing the files into Shrink.
I assume that the conversion to NTSC is good (the VOB's can be checked with 'G Spot'.

The only way to eliminate the disk from the equation is to try another known good brand burned at 4x.

To eliminate the standalone then you have to find another player to try it.

I just want to add that I burn printable Ritek disks and sometimes find that they show artifacts and sync problems on one standalone player.
My gold top Maxells (made in Japan) never show any problems. They are both burned at 4x on the same burner using the same software.
