hi all i am having probs playing all media files on ny pc. every movie file that plays is so dark its just not worth watching. ive tried adjusting every filter i can find. it only happens when i`m playing the files on my pc. i`v uploaded them to a web site and watched them back with no probs. i`m obveously missing somthing(probrably blindingly obveous) and was wondering if anyone out there can help. i have tried using every media player going but hav egone back to using VLC. if i take a snapshot with VLC then it comes out perfect in my pictures folder. pleeeeease can someone help an old fool.lol
I too have been having these problems. At first all my divx videos and some others had a light grey shade to them, but now they have all turned dark. Unaffected formats are WMV and MOV. When this problem first began happening the video playback would revert to normal when I opened a WMV in a different player while playing the affected video. Now, I can't change it at all. I unfortunately know nothing about filters. I have tried uninstalling Klite and reinstalling the latest version. During installation, I also chose to option to revert all codec settings to default. Does anyone know what is causing this? It seems like a problem that would have come up before for others.
Hey, I had a thought to update my video drivers, although they aren't old. The video playback works fine now, but I have no idea why a driver update would change that considering the problem only affected some formats.
blimey i thought this thread was dead in the water.i`m glad you got you problem sorted. mine is still there.the video drivers won't update, i can't i do system restore ( i think my pc is broke). to get the video footage to play i have to play the file in one media player, pause the file, then open it up and play it in another media to get watchable picture. i think its to do with different codecs conflicting. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything and i have looked high and low for the answer but to no avail. like i said, glad you got yours prob sorted.
I've got the same problem as well, and the trick of opening up a video in a separate player works for me as well, but is kind of a pain. Would be great if one of us could figure out the root cause of this problem.
thanks greatly for the time and effort zosoIV i fully apreciate anybody willing to help(stay classy)but this will not work. i dont get a red tint, its just to dark to watch.i now use 'media player classic' as my prime player ( its they only one out of them all that i can get to play previews on p2p sites), but i also have vlc, divx..,real..,quick..,and i have tried a coulple of others along they way to see if i could bypass the prob, but it happens on all of them. the picture quality is not affected, its just to, darny darko, to watch. ive tried uninstalling all but one player (tried with them all) but no joy. tphamooo i presume that updating your video drivers didnt work for you either?. p.s video footage the is attatched to a web site works fine, ie youtube.
Try fixing your Video Overlay settings. Open your Graphics Card Control panel, (Catalyst for ATI Users, NVidia Control Panel for NVidia users) and find the overlay settings. Adjust them until you can see properly. Another thing, WMP is a load of bloated, resource-hogging, MS Crap. Use MediaPlayerClassic in conjunction with K-Lite codec pack and you'll be able to play 98% of video formats.
thanks for the time Amir89. i already use media player clasic(it's the only one that plays previews on p2p sites, the previews are also to dark now), vlc also plays alot of files that others don't, but i don't think its the media player that is the prob. how do i open the graphics controle panel. i must apoligise that i'm not exactly brilliant with pc's. p.s i only have an onboard graphics card 'sis 650' ive tried rolling back the driver, updating the driver, and troubleshooting but can't find the answer.what have i done? thanks again. stay classy.......
Don't fiddle with the drivers, that's got nothing to do with it, I too used to have an onboard SiS, but I can't for the life of me remember if they even had a control panel? Their a dodgy brand I'll tell you that though. Hmmm either way Right-Click on your desktop, hit Properties, go to the Settings Tab and hit Advanced. See if there are any Graphics Configuration panels in there. Also, when you boot up your PC is there any Graphics tray icon? Something like a little monitor or so? From what I can remember there was a tray icon that let you change the resolution and basic settings. Go here and see if you can update your driver: http://www.sis.com/download/agreement.php?url=/download/ It might add some kind of Control Panel functionality.
BINGO..... thanks to everbody who gave this some thought. after trying nearly everthing i had in my locker, went back into the display settings via the control panel, clicked the troubleshoot tab and draged the 'display adapter' bar to the left and everthing works fine now. again thanks to all.stay classy
